Who said weight loss and eating healthy has to be boring?

One thing I get asked all the time in nutrition counseling is what a “good” or “bad” food are. The truth is: no food is either ALWAYS good or bad (except for hydrogenated oils, those are pure evil).

One of my favorite things to hear in an appointment with a client is “I can have that??”. Just about any food in small amounts can be worked into a meal plan, provided you are measuring out your amount and don’t go crazy. A few things I have put on meal plans for my clients in the last few days: butter, ice cream, maple syrup, and cheese. I also have all kinds of goodies that TASTE great but are not terrible for your weight loss goals!

The advantage of working with myself or another of our consultants is the fact that, as experts in the industry, we know how to work almost anything into a proper meal plan. Butter on toast at breakfast might mean we don’t get peanut butter for our later snack, etc.,

Learning how and where to incorporate treats and other items that might normally have been off your “can have” list is part of making a healthy lifestyle change; focusing on portion control for these items is key to long term success.
